Sorry there was no post yesterday. I had a migraine and took the day off. Feeling better today, so here we go!
I love honey. I love garlic. Together they are a great combination. Today I am going to give you a few benefits of them together. Both honey and garlic are high in antioxidant compounds. These chemicals are healthy to your body and help you to balance your immune system and help prevent illness. Some studies have shown that they may protect your brain from common diseases like dementia & Alzheimer's. More research needs to be completed on this, but garlic contains an antioxidant called kyolic acid. This antioxidant may help to protect your brain from aging damage. It has been shown to help memory, concentration, and focus.
Honey & garlic have been used in traditional medicine around the world for centuries. The main health ingredient in garlic is allicin. It helps give garlic its antibacterial and illness fighting properties. Honey is naturally high in antioxidants. These antioxidants are known to help fight inflammation in your body. Honey also helps balance your immune system and help certain illnesses. Honey contains antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal properties. The many health benefits of combining honey & garlic can be enjoyed by supplements or cooking. I choose cooking! Here are a few ways to incorporate both into your daily routine.
Salad Dressings: We all have our favorites! Add a little extra minced garlic and a Tbsp of Honey to almost any dressing. Our Favorite: Honey Garlic Ranch! You can use any ranch dressing. Put ranch dressing in a bowl and use a little garlic juice or minced garlic with Honey. I love it on salads. Use minced garlic if you want a dip. Keeps it thicker.
Marinade: Another one of our Favorites! Honey Garlic Glaze! I use this for everything! Shrimp, chicken, pork, even fish! I make 2 batches...1 for marinating and 1 for brushing at end of grilling & for dipping. So Good! My Recipe!
Honey Garlic Glaze
1/2 Cup Honey (Do This Honey!)
1/4 Cup GF/Low sodium Soy Sauce
3 TBSP minced garlic
1 tsp Oregano
1 tsp Basil
3 TBSP Organic Olive Oil
I have been known to use different spices. I use Dill with fish. Use what you like!
THE PICTURE OF THE DAY: I did get out yesterday to get mail. Fresh air! I saw one of Tim's "girls" on the hood of the truck. Couldn't resist a photo.
Enjoy your hump day. Stay healthy, stay safe, stay sane!
