I finally tried the refrigerator oatmeal. I did mine plain, and Tim's had blueberries. I did mine cold, and although Tim liked his cold, he only took 1 bite and asked me to heat it up for him. He did admit that this summer it will be great! I did mine cold to really get a good taste for it. I am not an oatmeal fan, but this was pretty good. I can see how versatile this recipe can be. Any fruit, any combo works with this basic recipe. Some recipes call for chai seeds, which I have and like, but not Tim. So, I kept this recipe SIMPLE. I think next time I am going to try pure maple syrup in mine. Cinnamon sounds good too. Oh...don't forget peanut butter/banana! The list is endless! I am giving you my recipe here. It was creamy and delish! Just plain was WAY better then I thought. I am excited to experiment with more flavors!
Basic Refrigerator Oatmeal
1/2 cup Oats (I used steel cut but they suggest regular...not instant)
1/2 cup Almond Milk (your choice of milk)
1 heaping Tbsp Vanilla Greek Yogurt
1/4 tsp vanilla
1-2 Tbsp DTHoney
This fits perfect in 1/2 pint jars. I had to use a pint jar for Tim's because of the blueberries (frozen or fresh...I used 1/2 cup). Since I used steel cut oats I added an extra Tbsp milk. So creamy! I mixed it up in the jar and since it was cold the honey was hard to mix in. I gave up and just stuck it in the fridge. This morning it had absorbed the honey and was mixed in just perfect. Creamy, great flavor and just a serving! Super Easy! This is a winner folks!
Have a wonderful weekend!
