Summer Spirals Down

Posted by Tammy Chapman on

Extraction is done and now the rendering of wax and the winterizing of bees begins.  All of our CSA orders have been filled, so things have calmed down a bit.  Honey harvest was better than expected, but still worse than we had hoped.  It was a good year considering the first real rain in months was this weekend!  Got about an inch of rain and it was appreciated.  Don't know if you can see the picture of my "web" in the crook of the hummer feeder hook!  It was foggy, and sprinkling rain and it was beautiful.  Not big on spiders...but this was worth the picture.

The bees are starting to calm down now that extraction is done.  It has been chilly at night and that helps too.  No freezing weather yet, but it was in the low 50's last night and suppose to be mid 40's tonight.  With everything so dry the trees are already showing some color.  Lots of golds and a few bright reds already.  I have some tomatoes still coming on, but everything else is done.  A busy week here with meetings, baby shower, wedding and the Holiday weekend!

Have a Blessed week all and enjoy your Holiday!  As Always...
